The history of La Rochère begins in Burgundy-Franche-Comté in the 15th century. Simon de Thysac, a gentleman glassmaker, settled in the Vosges mountains and created the factory for strategic and economic reasons. At the time, this region of France was an axis of trade between the North and the South, Italy and the Netherlands. It was also a region oriented towards Europe. “Bourgogne-Franche-Comté was ideal for raw materials, such as wood, silica, water”
